This is mine

One of the things I have learnt over the past 40 years is that we all have our story.

They influence how we see ourselves, how we respond to pressure, how we build relationships, how we lead, and often how we cope when life becomes overwhelming.

Some parts of our story help us.

Others quietly stay with us for years without us fully realising the impact they're having.

Understanding my own story changed my life.

It also became the foundation of MindShiftWorks.

I grew up in a hardworking family in Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

There was love in our home, laughter and many good memories.

There was also financial stress, uncertainty and the effects of alcohol that, although I didn't fully understand it at the time, shaped the way I experienced the world.

As I grew older, I became driven to achieve.

I built a successful career in corporate sales and the technology industry, founded businesses, led teams and worked with organisations throughout New Zealand and Australia.

From the outside, life looked successful.

But underneath, I was carrying something very different.

Like many of the people I work with today, I lived with a constant sense of pressure.

I compared myself with others.

I questioned whether I was good enough.

I found it difficult to switch off.

For years I believed that achieving more would eventually make those feelings disappear.

It never did.

That journey eventually led me to recovery, to years of studying human behaviour, and to asking a question that would ultimately change the direction of my life:

Over the next fifteen years, I immersed myself in learning, working with hundreds of people, studying different approaches, and continually refining what eventually became MindShiftWorks.

What I discovered was both simple and profound.

Many people already know what their problems are.

What they don't understand is why those same thoughts, emotions and reactions continue returning—or how to work through what has been driving them.

That became the purpose of MindShiftWorks.

Today, I work privately with executives, founders, business owners and professionals who often appear successful to everyone around them, yet privately know they are carrying more than anyone realises.

My role isn't to tell people how to think.

It isn't to judge them.

And it isn't to keep them dependent on me.

My role is to help them understand what has been driving the recurring patterns in their lives, work through them, and leave with a practical process they can continue using for the rest of their lives.

Because I've learned something I believe is true for all of us.
